I have used this rental company in the past and had a very positive experience, which is why I looked to them to rent again this year. We had a great vacation, but I think this specific property needs a bit more care. Pros: The location is excellent, right on the beach and in a slightly quieter part of Topsail, which we loved. And it is still just a short drive from the restaurants and shops. The beach was not crowded, and we had a blast swimming and searching for shark teeth. The neighbor told us the house was newly remodeled in the last year. The TV in the listing photo has been replaced with a larger wall-mounted TV. The kitchen was well-stocked with all the things we needed (we did take note of an earlier review that mentioned bringing our own large skillet, which we agree with). The living room furniture can comfortably fit four adults. The house is petite, but cute and very functional. Cons: Many of these issues are minor, but we noticed them nonetheless. There was a window AC unit in the primary bedroom that was noisy and not mentioned in the listing (overall, the primary bedroom was hotter than the rest of the house). There was a lamp without a lightbulb. There was no toilet paper holder in the half bath (the wall brackets for one are there, but no actual TP holder). There is a bit of a cockroach situation - we killed 4 large cockroaches during our week. The cleanings between rentals can be more thorough - while the countertops and main areas were clean, under the furniture had not been swept/vacuumed in a while, and someone left a bottle of deodorant under the top bunk bed slats. The largest issue for us is that the bunk beds are not made for adults to be comfortable: On the lower bunk, it is a very tight squeeze and there is virtually no room to rollover or even lift your head (quite claustrophobic). On the upper bunk, the ladder is a pain to use and there is only slightly more space between the mattress and ceiling. The pillows in both bedrooms are shapeless (so bring your own!). Overall, I would stay at this property again because I think these issues can and will be easily resolved.

Only incredibly minor complaint was that the smoke alarm is super sensitive and went off every time we used the oven. Better to work than not at all though! Definitely will be coming back.

Too much money to have cockroaches.

I would recommend you stay at Sea Biscuit! It’s a beautiful beachy vibe, newly renovated small home. The location is wonderful! It is directly on the beach, a small hill down to the beach. It is exactly as it appears in the photos. We stayed for 2 weeks, hated to leave. All linens supplied. Fully stocked kitchen, except a decent size skillet, had to make scrambled eggs in the oven in a glass pie pan, they were actually pretty good though.
